Angela McCartney

Angela McCartney

Angela is owner and founder of Studio Pilates. She teaches group classes, Private, and Semi-Private sessions. She is a fully trained STOTT PILATES Certified Level II Instructor and an Instructor Trainer.  As a Level II Instructor, Angela teaches Pilates Mat and the full array of equipment through the Advanced Levels – Reformer, Cadillac, Stability Chair and Barrels.  Her training also includes the Injuries and Special Populations course which qualifies her to teach pre- and post-natal clients, elderly, rehabilitating, “injured” clients and other special conditions. Angela is also Zenga® trained and certified, Total Barre trained and certified, and has completed the Fascial Movement Foundation course. 
 
As a STOTT PILATES Certified Instructor Trainer Angela is qualified to teach the Instructor Certification courses in both Mat and Reformer.
 
Angela brings over 40 years of group fitness teaching experience to Studio Pilates. In addition to her Pilates certifications, she held AFAA certifications in High Impact Aerobics, Step, Kickboxing, and Personal Training and is also PiYo and CPR certified. Prior to opening Studio Pilates, Angela was the Director of the Pilates Program, Group Instructor and Personal Trainer at Body Access formerly in Arlington, MA. As Program Director, Angela developed the group classes, trained the full team of instructors, and supervised class programming.
 
Angela started her STOTT PILATES training in 2002 and has been studying and practicing ever since. She is passionate and knowledgeable and brings enormous energy and enthusiasm to her teaching and the belief in the power of movement. Angela has always had a love and interest in fitness. She has competed in several middle-distance triathlons and holds a purple belt in Tae Kwon Do. She is a graduate of Tufts University with a BS in Biology and Classical Studies. She was a Varsity letterman in Field Hockey and rowed crew. Angela lived in Winchester with her husband and three children for over 20 years.

Kathleen Curran

Kathleen has been teaching at Studio Pilates since July 2014. She is STOTT PILATES Certified in Mat and Reformer Level 1. She has also completed training in Cadillac, Stability Chair and Barrels and has completed the Injuries and Special Populations course. Kathleen has been teaching Pilates since 2002 and has taught and trained at many local studios and clubs and has extensive experience teaching in the fitness industry. She holds a Master's Degree in Cardiovascular Health and Exercise from Northeastern University and a BFA in Dance from the Boston Conservatory. In addition, Kathleen is a Certified Holistic Health Coach from the Institute for Integrated Nutrition. Kathleen strongly believes that practicing STOTT PILATES can bring positive changes to her client's bodies, including strengthened abdominal and back muscles, improved alignment, increased flexibility and heightened body awareness.

When not instructing or training, Kathleen enjoys living a healthy lifestyle, cycling, reading, creative vegetarian cooking, and spending time with her family.

Amy Ginsburg

Amy is a Pilates Method Alliance Certified Pilates Instructor. She is trained in Pilates Mat and Equipment through the Advanced Levels. She has taught Pilates for 14 years and was a Senior Pilates Instructor at InsideOut Body Therapies in Durham, NC before relocating to Winchester, MA in 2018. Amy has studied with numerous Pilates Master Teachers. In addition, the Functional Anatomy for Movement and Injuries (FAMI) workshop deeply influenced her approach to Pilates. Inspired by the relevance of Pilates for people at all stages and circumstances of life, Amy completed the Pink Ribbon Program certification and has developed Pilates classes especially geared to promote bone health and balance. She has worked extensively with individuals managing illness, injury, pre- and post-natal needs, and issues related to aging, as well as dancers, athletes, and people with a wide range of backgrounds, to develop strength, flexibility, breath support and body awareness.

Prior to teaching Pilates full time, Amy was Associate Professor and Director of Dance at Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA. When teaching Pilates, Amy draws on her substantial background in dance, Laban Movement Analysis, Ideokinesis, and functional anatomy. Amy holds a BA in Psychology from Duke University, and MA in Dance from the University of Illinois, and an EdD in Dance from Temple University. Originally from Chicago, Amy now lives in the Boston area, where she is delighted to be teaching at Studio Pilates. Amy brings passion, commitment, enthusiasm, and deep appreciation of the transformative power of movement to all her teaching.
